Cheapest Parking in Windsor: Car Parks & Parking Spaces

Looking for the cheapest and most convenient parking in Windsor? This detailed guide has all you need to know.

Windsor is a popular tourist town, and unfortunately that means that parking prices are high. There are several car parks to choose from, but if you don’t do your research, you’ll end up paying expensive rates. You can’t wing it with a parking space on the street either, as many central areas are within the council’s Zone E, and require residents permits.

A word of warning too… the parking inspectors do the rounds ALL THE TIME. It’s definitely not a place to chance it and hope for the best. A parking ticket will put such a downer on your day out.

As Windsor locals, we’ve done a good reccy to find the cheapest car parking spaces in town. They vary from multi-story car parks to on-street parking. There are also a few options a short walk from the centre, where tourists don’t tend to visit.

So, whether you’re visiting for the day or a weekend, hopefully this guide will help you save your pennies. Then you can spend them on enjoying your time in the town!

Here are a few options that are totally free. Some have restrictions around the timing you can park. We’d always recommend you check local signs, in case anything has changed since we wrote this post.

Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground

Address: Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground, Dedworth Road, Windsor SL4 5BD.

This car park is totally free 7 days per week. It’s attached to the Pirate Park playground and Woody’s Café (both very popular with kids / parents).

It’s around a thirty-minute walk to the main sights in Windsor, so it is a long walk! But, if you’re desperate to save money on parking, it is a viable option. You can also cut down to the river nearby and stroll along the Thames towards the centre of town.

Windsor Skatepark Car Park

Address: Windsor Skatepark Car Park, Vansittart Road, Windsor SL4 5DJ.

This one is tiny, with just a few spaces for cars. It’s right next to the skatepark and playground in Vansittart Recreation Ground. It’s mostly used by parents dropping kids at the playground, but you can park for up to three hours between 9.30am and dusk. Access is via a single-track road, so it’s a little awkward, but amazing if you find a spot! Here’s a photo of the sign.
