Whether you’re starting your day with an espresso and a pastry, or you fancy brunch with a cuppa, these are the best cafes in Windsor.
One of the best things about living in Windsor is having access to so many lovely cafes. There are charming spots on cobbled streets, foodie delis serving amazing homemade dishes and top-notch brunches.
Personally, I’m a massive fan of the doughy and delicious cinnamon buns at Cinnamon Café. I also love the toasties at Harpers. As for pastries, you can’t go wrong with the elaborate creations at Heidi.
For Italian delicacies (cannolis, gelato and arancini) I’d recommend a pitstop at ArteFood. Or, for somewhere oozing charm, pop by Cup of Rosie. The brownies there are seriously good!
We’ve been busy sampling all of the best spots in our hometown, ready to create this definitive list. These are all within a short walk of the centre, so you can easily combine sightseeing with tasty treats!

Our 11 Favourite Cafes In Windsor Town Centre
Cinnamon Café
The Old Booking Hall, Windsor Royal Station, Windsor, SL4 1PJ
This independent café is one of our favourites in Windsor! It’s located inside the Old Booking Hall within Windsor Royal Station. Yes, that means you’ve got ticket counters in the middle of it. This quirky feel is all part of the fun!

You’ll find excellent coffee on offer here, plus a huge range of sweet and savoury treats. The best are the amazing cinnamon buns. They’re huge, doughy and covered in sweet cinnamon and icing. They’re big enough to share, but they’re so delicious, so you might not want to!
Harpers Windsor
59a St. Leonards Rd, Windsor, SL4 3BX
Pretty in pink, this cute café is the ideal place to stop for a coffee or a sweet treat. They serve brunch all day long too. Think avocado on delicious sourdough, served with local eggs and topped with hot honey.

The toasties are also very moreish. If you’re someone who likes your latte a little extra, you’ll see them in most colours of the rainbow at Harpers, from red velvet to matcha lattes.
Heidi
Unit 41, Windsor Royal Station, Windsor, SL4 1PJ
We’re shining a light on small independent cafes in Windsor. Heidi has a few branches, but most of them are in Windsor, so we felt it was deserving of being on our list. This is particularly true because not only is the coffee excellent, this bakery serves some of the best baked goods in town.

The croissants are light and flaky, the brownies are rich and fudgy, and the cruffins are filled with decadent creams. Personally, I love the branch in Windsor Royal Station, but there are two others selling a mix of sweet and savoury items in Daniel Department Store.
Artefood Windsor Café & Deli
11 Datchet Rd, Windsor, SL4 1QB
If you’re a fan of Italian food, you’ll love Artefood. This tiny café is tucked away near the river and serves great Italian coffee, gelato and pastries. There are some tasty savoury options too, including arancini, fresh sandwiches, focaccias and pastas.

We recommend stopping here to buy a takeaway lunch, then finding a place to perch by the river. Oh ,and don’t miss the tiny takeaway portions of tiramisu in a pot. You won’t regret it!
Cup of Rosie
3 Church Street, Windsor, SL4 1PE
Looking for one of the prettiest coffee shops in Windsor town centre? Cup of Rosie is located in an old home dating back to 1547, moments from the entrance to Windsor Castle. It’s a great spot to stop by before or after exploring the castle or strolling along The Long Walk.

They bake cakes and savoury items in their kitchens daily, so you’ll see lots of delicious treats on offer. There’s also a tasty menu of brunch dishes. Plus, if the sun is out, Cup of Rosie has two pretty courtyards to choose from.
Millar’s Eatery
43 St Leonards Road, Windsor, SL4 3BP
It’s rare we walk past Millar’s and it’s not busy! Whether it’s the morning coffee rush, brunch or lunch, it’s one of our favourite daytime venues in town.

There’s an exciting menu featuring some exciting world food dishes, such as spiced shakshuka, miso ramen and jackfruit curry. Plus, you’ll find all your brunch favourites, from smashed avocado and bacon butties, to flaky pain au chocolats.
Tree House Café
Windsor Baptist Church, Victoria Street, Windsor, SL4 1EH
Here’s a café with a difference! Tree House Café is based inside Windsor Baptist Church and is a lovely place to visit with children. Our toddler loves it here! It has a large play area, with a soft play section and lots of role play items, including a kitchen, shop, construction items and dressing up clothes.

While this café doesn’t have a huge menu, they serve great coffee, a selection of cakes and some decent toasties too. It’s reasonably priced, with plenty of options to keep kids happy.
It’s usually just open during terms time on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 9.30am – 1pm.
Monty’s Café
55 St. Leonards Road, Windsor, SL4 3BX
Another very popular Windsor café, Monty’s is great any time of day. I’ve noticed the weekend breakfast slot is particularly busy, with a mix of families, couples and friends all sitting down for full English breakfasts, eggs Benedicts and pancakes.

The lunch menu is vast, with everything from sandwiches and bowls of pasta, to pies, salads and burgers. Prices are extremely reasonable too – a burger with chips and salad will only set you back £12.50!
Craft Coffee House
8 George V Place, Thames Street, Windsor, SL4 1QP
This café serves great coffee, a stone’s throw from Windsor Castle and the River Thames. Along with hot and cold drinks, there are sandwiches, quiches, salads and cakes. There’s a pretty seating area in the courtyard too, which makes it a lovely place to refuel on your day out in Windsor.

8-9 Church St, Windsor, SL4 1PE
Moments from the gates of Windsor Castle is this traditional, quintessentially British tea room. The brasserie menu features a range of classic dishes including lasagne, fish and chips and pizza.

I’m more interested in the ‘café’ element for this post, so I’d recommend stopping by the tea room. You’ll have the option of a traditional cream tea with scones, jam and clotted cream, or an afternoon tea which also includes sandwiches. You can even upgrade to a sparkling one, with a glass of prosecco!
Nell Gwynn Tearoom
5 Church St, Windsor SL4 1PE
This is another quaint little tearoom in Windsor, ideal for a quick cuppa and a slice of cake. Seating is outside on the cobbles, in a pretty location. This place isn’t renowned for serving top food, but with a location like this, we might let standards slide a little!
