June might just give May a run for its money, if I’m being honest. Yes, I know I said May was the best month, but there’s something about June in Windsor that just feels magical. The days are at their absolute longest, the sun actually has some real warmth to it, and the whole town takes on this golden, unhurried energy that I absolutely love. It’s properly summer now – no question about it – and Windsor is one of those places that really comes into its own when the weather plays ball.
The parks are stunning this time of year. Windsor Great Park is honestly breathtaking in June, with the Long Walk looking its very best and the gardens at their most colourful. If you haven’t walked down to the Savill Garden in early summer, you’re genuinely missing out – it’s one of my favourite things to do on a warm June morning. Throw in the longer evenings and you’ve got the perfect excuse for a slow riverside stroll or an al fresco dinner that stretches well into the night.
When it comes to events, June is a brilliant month in Windsor. Royal Ascot falls in June, which brings a real sense of occasion and glamour to the whole area – even if you’re not heading to the races yourself, there’s a fantastic buzz around town that’s hard not to get swept up in. Windsor Racecourse also has some great evenings on this month, and their evening fixtures have such a lovely atmosphere for a summer night out.
It’s also worth keeping an eye on what’s happening at Windsor Castle itself in June. The Changing of the Guard is always a highlight for visitors, and with the tourist season now in full swing, the town has a wonderful energy to it. LEGOLAND continues to be a brilliant option for families throughout the month too, and honestly, on a warm June day there are few better places to spend it.
For those who love music and the arts, June is a great month to check what’s on at Theatre Royal Windsor, and there are often outdoor events and performances popping up across town as the summer schedule gets going. It’s the kind of month where you can genuinely fill every weekend without really trying.
